Looking for a challenge to start off in 2021? How about a virtual 50k running all the Firelanes in Portland’s Forest Park and raising money for the victims of the 2020 wildfires with the American Red Cross disaster relief? Runners can do the 50k all at once, or one to all of the five segments that add up to a 50k.
This won’t be easy. Besides the constant traveling up and down the Tualatin Mountains, be ready for muddy footing, overgrown trails that resemble a carwash (especially Firelanes 4 & 7A), and a few roads with little to no shoulders/sidewalks.
However, it’s simple to enter. Run the 50k on your own or with a couple of friends by March 1st, 2021. Once finished, fill out the Google Form below or use the form link. Those competing to win must submit the GPS link of the route. (It can be Strava, MapMyRun, a GPS Watch, etc.) Men’s and Women’s overall winners will receive the NWDC Mt. Hood Technical Trucker hat. All other runners will be eligible for raffle prizes from REI, Road Runner Sports, Headsweats, Skout Organic, and more.
We ask that competitors donate what they can to our Tiltify fundraising page for the American Red Cross. Donations are not necessary to compete, however. Make sure to view the Northwest Dirt Churners Affiliated Brands for any trail running products.
Not ready to run a 50K? No problem. We’ve made 5 different routes (see below) using Firelanes that add up to 50k. Sign onto Google Forms and just submit the route ran. Submit the runs by March 1st. All runners will be eligible for raffle prizes.
Don’t live in Portland but would still like to compete? Run your own 50k or individual runs that add up to 50k by March 1st, 2020. All runners will be eligible for raffle prizes. Just enter your run on the Google Form.
Results: Results will be posted here as they are submitted.
Post it to Instagram for extra raffle tickets – Add a post to Instagram and tag @nwdirtchurners, @americanredcross & #firelanefrenzy. Each post receives an extra raffle ticket. Prizes will be drawn March 1st.
