The Icicle Ridge Trail is a beautiful and challenging five-mile out and back just outside of Leavenworth.  The trail starts at Icicle Ridge Trailhead on Icicle Road.  From the trailhead, Icicle Ridge Trail immediately starts to ascend through ponderosa pine groves.  Wildflowers bloom here in late spring.  Keep an eye out for poison oak patches.  Several switchbacks help with the 1800′ gain to the top of the ridge.  There a few lookouts of Icicle Creek and the Leavenworth Golf Club on the way.

The ridgeline will come into view as the trail gets about the trees, but there are a few more switchbacks until the ridge is reached.  Head right along the ridge for a 360-degree view of the Wenatchee River, Leavenworth, the North Cascades, and the Enchantments.

Head back to the trailhead, or turn right at the ridge junction on the faint Icicle Ridge Trail as it heads west along the ridge for seven miles to the 4th of July trailhead for a 15-mile point to point.  The Icicle Ridge Trail extends for a total of 29 miles and into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area where it connects to many more trails.
